Wow, what’s going on? What’s all that commotion here in my casa, thinks Claudia.

“What’s going on?” asks Claudia.

“We don’t know,” replies Papa Jorge.

Claudia urgently strides to the front door. She sees Veronica and Christopher walking after Roberto.

Oh dios mio that’s my Roberto! “Roberto, wait!” yells Claudia. She runs out the door after him. “Baby!”

“I don’t want to hear you lie!” yells Roberto. He attempts to hurry to the suv.

“Baby, what’s wrong?” asks Claudia, passing Veronica and Christopher.

“Hermana (sister), he saw Christopher and me kissing. I think that he thought I was you,” says Veronica, walking behind Claudia.

“Hey, amigo, wait up!” says Christopher, sprinting after Roberto. “You have it all wrong.”

Roberto hears Claudia and the other voices. Hmm, that’s three voices and not two. One is Claudia, he thinks. He turns around, furious and curious.

“Baby,” yells Claudia, running to Roberto. “Please, listen to me.”

Roberto stands stupefied. Oh, dios mio! What a fucking fool I am. I forgot about her twin. I saw her in his arms and thought it was my Baby. The rage and frustration that I felt ten years ago, came rushing back. It was worse this time, because Claudia is my mujer, ponders Roberto. He’s in a daze.

On The Rocks (The Edge Erotica Series) by Elizabeth Morgan

Genre Erotic Romance

On the Rocks is the hottest club on South Padre Island, and Meghan’s new workplace.

If the warped mermaid uniform isn’t enough, the fact that she can’t stop thinking about the club’s singer, Zenzie, is. Everything about the female gets Meghan hot, but when she finally gets her shot with the temptress, it turns out Zenzie isn’t as perfect, or as human, as Meghan thought.

Her warm breath skated down my neck causing a shiver to curl around my spine. She straightened then slid her hands through my hair. My eyelids fluttered at the feel of her fingertips stroking over my temples and along my hairline.

“I saw you watching us.”

I stared at her. “Excuse me?”

“Do you like watching?” She retrieved a few items from the vanity table, twisted two sections of my hair, and pushed the hair clips into place. “It’s all right. You can tell me, Meghan.”

My body tightened at the husky way she said my name. The knot between my legs pulsed under her piercing stare. I had no idea how, or even why she managed to get under my skin, but God, I wanted her.

“I’m not a pervert or anything.”

“I know you’re not.” She slid a chain of small red flowers into the black mass of my hair.

“I just heard a noise. I guess my curiosity got the best of me.” I shifted on my seat. “I’m sorry—”

“Don’t be. I liked you watching.”

My nails dug into my knees as her hands moved down my throat. Her skin like satin—her touch, soft. She ran her fingertips over the top of my breasts.

“I would have asked you to join us, if you hadn’t run.” Her gaze caught mine again while she slid her hand inside my skin-tone bra. “Will you run now, or will you do what we both know you want to do?”

Delayed Justice by Constance Bretes

Genre: Romantic Suspense/Contemporary

Can two former lovers set aside their differences and work together to bring a criminal to justice?

Five years ago, Sami Parker's life was changed forever when she was injured in a bombing incident which left another young woman dead—a woman who happened to be the fiancée of Sheriff Makeeta Robertson, Sami's former lover. Initially, Sami was a suspect in the crime, but the sheriff was forced to release her due to a lack of evidence. The town, convinced that she got away with murder, turned against her.

At last an arrest has been made and the sheriff needs Sami's help to get a conviction, but can she trust him? Although wary and cautious, she wants to see this man brought to justice and wants to clear her own name once and for all. But the awakening feelings she has for Makeeta bring yet another problem. Then there's the secret she's kept for the last five years—one she may not be able to keep any longer, and one that may change the outcome of the trial.

Content Warning: contains some sexual content

Sami got in her truck at about ten in the evening to head to Milne City to get her mail. She pulled up in front of the post office, parking parallel to the building, and walked inside to her mailbox. When she returned to her truck, a sheriff cruiser pulled up beside her. She walked between the cruiser and her truck and Makeeta got out of the cruiser.

"Sami, what are you doing out here this late at night?" he asked.

"What does it look like I'm doing?" she uttered sarcastically.

"Why do you get your mail so late?"

"To avoid people like you," she retorted curtly and continued to her truck and opened the door. She fumbled with her mail and some dropped to the ground. Makeeta bent over to pick it up at the same time she did. He grabbed the mail first and handed it to her.

"I was going to call you next week. I need you to come down to the sheriff's office and see if you can pick out the perpetrator in a lineup," Makeeta said. She climbed into her truck and he leaned slightly on her truck door, preventing her from closing it.

"I already picked him out at the district attorney's office. You know that—you were there."

"Yes, but for added security, if you can identify him in a lineup, that would leave the jury with absolutely no doubt about the identity. We want to seal the case up and close any gaps or loopholes that the defense might grab on to."

Sami let out a sigh. "I don't know if I'm comfortable coming down to the sheriff's office to do this. How do I know you won't arrest me?"

Makeeta looked at her questioningly. "Why would I do that?"

"Gee, I don't know, maybe because you think I helped create the damn bomb that went off?"

"I thought we were past this, Sami. I cleared you of any suspicion of involvement in the case."

"Yeah, well, what I don't understand is why if you didn't believe me five years ago, you would believe me now," Sami said, holding her raw emotion in check.

"I don't recall ever saying I didn't believe you, but I had an investigation going on and I needed to rule everyone out." Makeeta's voice hardened.

"You didn't rule me out…you brought me into the station the minute I was released from the hospital. I had intense pain, needed my medication, and you kept me there for hours. Did you conveniently forget about that?" Sami asked, looking him up and down from her side vision. He still had a beautifully proportioned body. He wore a blue jean shirt, with his badge pinned to his pocket, and tight-fitting jeans. His face was ruggedly handsome, with shoulder-length black hair. "You should have sent one of your deputies out to talk to me two weeks ago, you should have known that I wouldn't be interested in talking to you about anything." She wanted to get this conversation over with so she could leave.

"I thought it would be easier for you if it was just you and me," he said quietly.

"After what you put me through, you thought it would be easier for me? What planet did you come from?" she asked incredulously. "Besides, you weren't alone, you brought the district attorney and another deputy with you."

"Okay, maybe I made a bad judgment call there," he confessed. "But I'm here now to ask you to come to the station and see if you can identify the perpetrator."

"When do you want me to come down?"

"As soon as you can," he answered crisply.

"All right, may as well get it over with. I'll be there tomorrow at ten, is that okay with you?" she asked sharply.

"Tomorrow at ten would be just fine." Makeeta smiled thinly at her.

"Okay, now if you'll excuse me, I want to get out of here."

The Convict and the Cattleman by Allison Merritt

Genre: Historical Romance

His love is the key to her release.
Sentenced to seven years of servitude in the penal colony of New South Wales, Bridgit Madden is thrust into a world unlike anything she's known, dangers she never imagined and enemies with their own interests at heart. Certain that the conviction has ruined her chances of ever having a real family, she is fearful of her future.
Despite his reluctance to take in a convict, Jonah Andrus, a grazier and pioneer cattleman, needs a servant to care for his orphaned niece. When presented with Bridgit, who is far too beautiful and distracting, he initially tries to refuse. However, with a busy cattle station to oversee, he needs help right away.
Upon her first meeting with Jonah's niece, Bridgit immediately falls in love with the girl and becomes entwined the mystery surrounding her birth. As she gets to know her employer better, Bridgit makes it her mission to remind him that family is priceless. When it seems as though she might have found the place she truly belongs, their love is threatened by lies and deceit, and both of them might lose everything they hold dear for a second time.

“There, there. Bridgit will be along any second. She knows how to take care of  you. Uncle Jonah will drop you. You’re too small.”

Surprised by his own admission, he stared helplessly at Olivia. When was the last time he’d paid her any attention? She’d grown and he hadn’t noticed. Babies did; he knew well enough from watching his calves during the summer. The baby he remembered was tiny, wrinkled and didn’t look like anyone. Charlotte, exhausted, but elated, had smiled proudly.

“Isn’t she beautiful, Jonah?”

Recalling her voice made his heart pound. The silly girl didn’t have a sense of shame. She’d been nervous when she admitted her tryst and the subsequent pregnancy, but she had defended her child. Not unlike one of his cows. They protected their young fiercely.

He hadn’t found the words to answer her question. All he saw was Rob Langnecker’s face. The desire to kill him had blotted out everything else. Langnecker had ruined his sister, left her alone with a bastard child and went off chasing other skirts. She’d died in the room where Bridgit slept, believing he’d come back for them.

If I ever catch him.

Jonah ran his hand down his face.
“Is something wrong?”

Bridgit’s warm hand closed around his. Pity shined in her eyes.

“The chores are waiting.” Clammy sweat dampened his shirt.

She tugged his hand. “You need to stay. You’ll regret it if you don’t. Go sit down.”

He didn’t understand why he obeyed, but he sat in the rocking chair by the window. His father had crafted it for his mother years before Jonah was born.

Bridgit lifted Olivia, nestling her into his arms. The cries eased to a whimper.

“Hold your arms like this. You’ve got to support her head.”

“I know.” Charlotte had insisted he hold Olivia hours after her birth. He remembered it clear as day. Accepting the chubby baby, he was surprised at her weight.

She’d been so small. “She’s healthy.”

It was more a question than a statement. Olivia gazed at him, eyes wide. Her fingers toyed with one of his buttons.

“Aye. Growing like a weed. She’s learning to roll over.” At his confused look, she explained, “That’s good. She’ll be crawling before long. She talks to me and follow things with her eyes. Everything she’s supposed to do.”

“Good. Charlotte would be glad.” His voice sounded choked and he cleared his throat, hoping Bridgit hadn’t noticed.

She lifted the bottle. “Here. Feed her. Tip it up, so the air gets in the bottle.”

He let her show him what to do, surprised again when Olivia grasped the bottle with her tiny hands. Her features were clearer now. Charlotte’s nose and chin. Those couldn’t be his ears, could they? Dark blue eyes stared up at him, then drifted shut as she suckled greedily. Her eyes were the only resemblance he could find to her father.

Bridgit kneeled beside the rocking chair and swept dark locks from the baby’s face. Her hand settled on his knee. “There. She’s happy now.” A wistful smile played across her face.

A jolt ran through him. With Olivia snuggled against his chest and Bridgit beside him, the moment belonged to a family man.

An Angel for Avery

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Angels are among us. When Avery encounters her own angel, he brings her tidings of great joy!
Avery Royce has recently landed her dream job—the prestigious position of head pastry chef at a quaint historic inn in Maine. But she's on her own for the first time in her life and things aren't going well. Homesick and surrounded by resentful co-workers, she needs to get away, but she can't get time off work. Then she purchases a beautifully crafted Christmas ornament, and her life is forever changed.
Entombed within the fine glass of the ornament by a powerful wizard, Aiden has spent an eternity waiting to be freed. When a beautiful mortal woman's tears finally frees Aiden from his prison, he's eternally grateful. Still, freed does not mean the danger has ended. When an old nemesis begins to stalk Avery, Aiden will have to fight to save her and the love they are destined to have.
Content Warning: contains explicit sex and some violence

Confused, Avery didn't know whether to rush out of the cabin or sit down. This is so odd. "Dear God, I'm going bonkers." For several minutes, she sat there trying to rationalize what was going on.

When she looked up, she saw her crystal angel laying on the table only inches from her elbow. The ornament sparkled at her.

She picked it up. "How did you get here?" She caressed its wings. Again they looked as if they were in a different position.

Tears started rolling down her face. What's wrong with me? Her tears rained down on the ornament, washing it. She wiped them away with her fingers, and the ornament gleamed even brighter. She set it down and sighed. Obviously, I need a mental health evaluation.

"Be at peace, child. I bring you no harm," a deep male voice said.

Startled, Avery looked up. She gasped in fear at the sight of a man sitting next to her at the kitchen table. When she looked closer…it was the angel from the crystal ornament, now flesh and blood. He was vibrant and colorful, with black hair, dark eyes, and a nice tanned complexion. To be sure, she glanced down to where she'd placed the ornament on the table. It was gone. He truly was there, materialized into a full-sized man sitting next to her.

"You can and will accept my presence. All is well, Avery." Warmth emanated from him, making her feel flushed, but his words strangely relaxed her.

His features were strong, as perfect as they had been in crystal form. Surprisingly, he touched her arm as if to soothe her. A scream started to form her throat. Then she froze, unable to make a sound.

"Be at peace, young one." Huge white wings unfurled behind him. "I am a heavenly angel, I mean you no harm." Tilting his head to the side, he studied her. Once more, a calming sensation passed over her, chasing all fear away.

Avery coughed, nearly choking.

"Do not scream. All is well."

She sighed. As if hypnotized, all she could do was stare into his sparkling eyes. They were captivating. Intelligence and wisdom stared back at her. In the lamp light, his skin glowed with an unearthly radiance. When he smiled, his teeth were perfectly white.

"I am Aiden. I was trapped within the crystal prison until you freed me with your tears the night you brought me home."

"Are you my guardian angel?" Avery asked in a soft voice.

"No. I am a guardian angel, however, I have not been assigned to protect you. It is happenstance I am here and that you rescued me with the shedding of your sweet tears."

"My tears?"

"Yes, when your tears fell on my crystal prison, it reversed the wicked one's curse, freeing me from captivity."

"How come I'm not freaking out more about all of this?" she asked. "I'm oddly accepting."

"Yes, you are. It is perceptive of you to notice. I have calmed you with my words. For centuries, angels have appeared to men and reassured them with mere words. It is one of our special gifts."

"Oh."

"I have been imprisoned for more than a century. Much has changed."

"How do you know my name?" She pulled back from him.

"I heard Norm call your name."

"Did Norm see you?"

"Yes, and I allowed my presence, my angelic persuasion, to make him change his attitude and show you more respect."

"How?"

"I have a supernatural influence over people, especially weak ones. Norm is a simple man with a coward's heart. It was easy to sway his thoughts with only a glance from me." He chuckled. "Also, I know your name because the magazines are addressed to Ms. Avery Royce."

Avery studied her unusual guest. Even seated he was imposing, taking up most of the space in the room. His sword rested against his knee, shimmering in the light.

"Do you use your sword?" Avery nodded toward it.

"If and when necessary, but if my sword bothers you, I will put it away." He waved his hand, and in a flash, the sword disappeared. "I had grown used to needing it regularly when I was fighting off the wicked one. It seems my sword did me little good. Despite my efforts, the wicked one caught me and imprisoned me. Then he took my ward's life." He shook his head sadly. "I deeply regret my failure." Aiden stood up, towering over the table.

"Dear me, you're big." She looked him over.

"I am a warrior," he reminded her. "I protect those assigned to me with brute force as well as angelic abilities."

Reading and writing is a wonderful diversion from an often-difficult world. I love to create my own stories and have control over how things will end. It's exciting to create brand new worlds and characters. My imagination can come alive.
In sci-fi, fantasy, and paranormal stories, I can invent wonderful places and people. Anything is possible in these genres, it's limitless. I'm able to create an escape into a special world filled with unique and fantastic things and there is always a happy ending.
A high school teacher inspired me to write. However, instead of initially pursuing my writing career I became a lawyer. I work in divorce court, so erotic romance is a great escape. There can be true love and happy-endings, at least on my pages.
My two children and I have two good-humored dogs that share our home and ease our stress. I have traveled and lived all over the world, and these experiences have given me great creative ideas. I look forward to creating many more adventures in romance.

As Trevor helped Lila up the porch steps, she wrapped her arms around his neck and brushed her lips against his jaw. She hadn't taken her hands off him since they'd left Tate's.

"I love to feel your stubble." She ran her fingers along his cheek. "It's sexy."

"Keys?" He held out his hand and waited as she dug through her bag. She had him rock hard and ready to go. The fact that she'd rested her hand on his thigh the whole ride home hadn't helped matters. It was the alcohol lowering her inhibitions, but that didn't make it any easier not to respond.

"Here they are." She dropped them into his hand. "Come inside with me."

He opened the door and led her into the foyer. As soon as he let her go, she stumbled forward. He caught her by the waist and pulled her against him. He couldn't take his eyes away from her lips.

"Do you want to kiss me?" Her warm breath caressed his mouth.

More than you know.

"Let me help you upstairs. I don't want you to fall down the steps." He scooped her up and carried her to the staircase. She was so light and dainty. She was still his perfect fit.

"You didn't answer my question." She placed soft, open-mouth kisses along his neck as he made his way to her old bedroom. He remembered sneaking up those steps many times, while her father slept down the hall. They still creaked, but this time he didn't have to worry about getting caught.

"Of course I want to kiss you." He pushed the door open with his shoulder and set her down by the bed.

She closed her eyes and leaned into him. He swiped the hair from her face, took her chin between his fingers, and placed a chaste kiss on her lips.

She opened one eye and peered at him, waiting for more. "That's it?" Disappointment flooded her beautiful features.

"For tonight." He tapped the tip of her nose with his finger. "I want you to remember when I kiss you."

"I'll remember." She wrapped her arms around his neck. "You're not easy to forget."

He pried her arms from his body. "Believe me, I want to, but not tonight."

"Why?"

"Because four hours ago you ran away from me," he said. "Something made you run. Tell me why." He may not have wanted to take advantage of her physically while she was intoxicated, but he didn't see why he couldn't let her drunken lips tell him what she was afraid of.

"I can't."

"You can't what?" He needed to know what she thought about the two of them.

"I'm tired now." She lifted her dress over her head and tossed it in the corner of the room. She stood before him in nothing but her white push-up bra and matching lace thong.

"Hell." He couldn't take his eyes off her toned, tanned body. He mindlessly licked his lips when he discovered her rose-colored nipples poking through the thin, silky material of her bra. Struggling with himself, he tried not to lower his gaze. He lost the battle as he greedily took in her scantily covered sex.

"Want to kiss me now?" She ran her fingers down her neck and over her breasts. "Want to touch me like this?" She moved her hand down her stomach and to the waistband of her panties.

He stepped closer to her and grabbed her wrist. He had to get her to stop or he'd lose all control.

"You want to do it?"

Sebastian Antonio De La Cruz is the familia's architect. He’s the classic traditional macho Mexicano. He enjoys being single until the primos (his cousins) start falling in love. He starts to think about the chica (girl) of his dreams.
Cynthia Lopez walks into his life demanding, independent, and unconventional. She rocks his world. Tony fights to resist Cynthia and deals with her father’s objections. Tony believes Senor Lopez is the source of his familia’s (family's) heartaches and troubles.
"She’s hot, sexy, and makes me burn like no one ever has. I just can’t be with her. She’s a spoiled demanding chica and I will not be her toy!" Sebastian Antonio De La Cruz.

“Hola I’m Cynthia. Do you work here? Is your boss here? I need to talk to him. Can you go and look for him?” asks Cynthia. She looks at Tony. I wonder if he knows where the architect is at.

“Yeah, he’s here,” replies Tony. I wonder who this chica is. She’s pushy and demanding. I don’t like it, thinks Tony, attempting to calm down his body reaction to her nearness.

“Okay, so where is he?” asks Cynthia. She looks around trying to find the architect that her Papa wants her to meet with.

“What do you want with him?” asks Tony with curiosity. I wonder what she wants with me.

“I need to make sure that he designs the building exactly as we want the building to be built. I want him to review the land and get his thoughts on buildings,” replies Cynthia with a commanding voice.

Huh, hell no, I’m not taking her bullshit, thinks Tony annoyed. He looks at her from tip of her boots to the top of her glorious hair. Hell yeah, she makes me burn but she also makes me furious. Who in the hell does she think she is. She’s very condescending.

“Okay, let’s start this over,” says Tony taking a firm stance. “I’m Sebastian Antonio De La Cruz and you are?” he asks. He glares at her raising his eyebrow. He raised it with arrogance.

Cynthia stands there with her mouth gapping open. Wow! This hot hunk is the architect. I thought he was a worker and that the architect was an old fart, thinks Cynthia.

I like him, ponders Cynthia, going to him, running her finger over his lower lip, and biting her lip. Oh yeah, I will taste him. I bet he makes love like being in heaven. I want him. I’m going to have him.

Above Par by Crystal Donahue

Genre: New Adult

There are no mulligans in love.

Drew's life just got a whole lot harder. Her relationships are falling apart, her little sister is failing math, and her parents are leaving for Florida to take care of Grandpa. Now not only does she have to play surrogate parent, study to graduate from her last semester of college, and deal with the looming threat of full-on adulthood, she has to do it all while running the family's mini-golf course by herself. Even the upbeat Drew is starting to feel like she just drove her ball down the unfairway.

Her luck takes a turn when she meets Weston, the snarky geometry teacher. He's smart, capable, dependable, and handsome—a real hole in one. But even Weston has a few hazards of his own. Now Drew will have to decide whether his secret is the wedge that drives them apart, or pushes them together.

~Excerpt~

“Need some help with that?”

With a smirk, I lower my head to line up my shot. “No thanks, I’ve been eavesdropping on your inspirational speeches so I think I can handle it. You make me want to be a better player both on the green and off,” I tease, “maybe you should write a self-help book.”

He just grins and shakes his head. “I think I’ll leave the writing up to your dad. I’d be happy to help you with your form though.”

My head remains down but I lift my eyes so I can see him watching me. “My form? What’s wrong with my form?”

“From where I’m standing, I can’t find a single flaw. But in the interest of being thorough, I should probably take a closer look just to be sure.” Weston places his hands on mine and wraps around me as we both grip the putter. Standing so close our bodies melt together, my mouth starts to go dry. My heart is pounding wildly, tapping out a steady and thunderous drum beat.

“And now?” I ask, feeling breathy and weak.

"You’re perfect,” he whispers into my ear and I can feel the last remaining bit of air squeezing from my chest.

Crystal Donahue has been fortunate to live all over the US, including Arizona, Hawaii, and Georgia but she currently resides near the Iowa/Illinois border with her tornado obsessed son and their mischievous cat, Brownie. She is a procrastinator of epic proportions, finds humor in almost everything, loves sarcasm and loathes washing dishes.

A 2004 graduate of Western Illinois University, Crystal has held several unique jobs including driving a Zamboni and being a relay operator for the hearing and speech impaired. While working as a claims adjuster she realized life is too short not to do something that makes you happy, so she quit her job to become a nurse. Between work and raising her son she somehow manages to find time to write too, usually to the detriment of her social life. Fortunately her friends and family are amazing so it isn’t much of an issue…yet.

Hmm. Something unique...When I was little I wanted to grow up to be an Egyptologist. Hieroglyphics and ancient cultures fascinate me. In junior high I wrote a short story about a female Egyptologist that gets trapped inside a pyramid and fights for survival. I hope to someday find the time to turn it into a full length novel. And of course, going to visit the Egyptian pyramids is on my bucket list!

Vlad Tepes, Vigilante Vampire

Genre: Paranormal Romance

In today's world, some vampires sparkle and some are mass murderers. In my world, vampires are governed by a Vampire Hierarchy, turns are seldom, and one particular vampire is a vigilante, protecting humans whenever he can, even if he must have their blood to survive.

My hero is Vlad Tepes, the righter of wrongs and possibly mankind's only hope. Vlad was a child as the Black Death ripped through Europe, bringing disease and death to those it touched, including Vladimir. But, as fate would have it, a vampire with a soft spot for the young and unprotected found Vlad, healed his illness and adopted him as his son. Vanic Tepes instills his values into his young charge, watching Vlad grow into the human Vanic wishes he could be. Then, the unthinkable happens, and Vlad finds himself knocking on death's door. His only hope for life is if his father can save him one last time. Even though Vlad must have blood to live, he's forced to take a long hard look at himself, and to contemplate those weaker than he, his prey.

Vlad tires of senseless death and violence. He attempts to restrain his baser needs, but he knows there's an evil in his soul, tightly controlled, his beast that begs for violence. Vlad becomes what his conscious demands. He saves those he can and avenges those he cannot. When the Hierarchy moves his family to Chicago, he discovers a whole new environment, different and yet the same. Evil lurks everywhere, and it's not always vampiric. Love finds Vlad, if only he can hold onto it. He must save his life mate and lover, Sheree twice, once from death, and once from her mobster father.

~Excerpt~

Old Chicago, that's what I liked to call this part of the city with its old neighborhoods, the Italians, Irish, Asians, Germans...and the new additions, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, and Middle Eastern born people. It didn't make any difference to me, a mass of human population boiling over with need, want, and violence, the same as it always was...but it was also a hunting grounds and that was important to me. You see, injustice never set well with me, and this latest gig as an enforcer, well, it was right up my alley.

Two days had been spent tracking the latest problem that worked his way across our domain. Another being, happy with violence and sickness, unable or unwilling to contain himself. If he wasn't stopped, how many more would he torture, maim, or kill to satisfy those sick needs?

The night surrounded me and I drew it in tighter, virtually invisible to the human eye, waiting, watching, prowling... What was taking him so long? I had other things to do besides waiting for him to make his move. My patience was wearing thin, and my shoulders rolled with tightness. The night was becoming longer than it needed to be.

Finally, traces of his foul wonderings greeted my mind as he mused about his next victim, hoping she'd scream and beg, hoping she'd plead for her life. Then after a few promises and sure knowledge her life was forfeit, she'd beg for the lives of her husband and daughter. He got a self-induced high off what he planned to do. It disgusted me, reviled me, and yet, it was I who was the monster. He pondered it all as he came closer, and I promised myself, he'd have a taste of his own fear.

There he was! Jaunting down the sidewalk, keys jiggling nervously in his pocket, anxiousness in his footsteps, and eagerness in his dull-brown eyes. He glanced up at the pretty blonde in front of him, his smile widened, his dull eyes lit up. His sharpened pointy canines peeked below his upper lip, but they were only for show. He wasn't one of my kind but he liked to pretend. It was all about invoking fear and he liked the powerful feeling. So did I.

His footsteps quickened and mine followed his. He was closer now to the object of his desire, almost within touching distance. Almost. He licked his pale thin lips, greasy hair flopped on his forehead, sweat gathered on his brow. Now, his thoughts rang in my ears, his hand lifted, grab her now! With a crumpled up ball of dirty white fabric clutched in his hand, he reached out as he crossed the darkened threshold of the alley. The shadows slipped away from me, and I stepped further back, sliding my sunglasses into place. No need for my eyes to give me away.

There was a muffled scream. I heard her heels scrape along the rough concrete, then his slump against the crumbling brick of the adjoining building. Damn, his thoughts spoke loudly, she's already passed out. Fun and games'll have to wait. He kissed the top of her head almost tenderly before he dragged her further into the alley and ran straight into my chest. My arms swallowed both of them, lifting them from the pavement.

“Hey,” he shouted, “get off of me!” Anger rolled off of him in waves. It filled the air, and I felt my beast roll, just a little, inside of me.

My arms opened and they tumbled to the ground. The woman, now a dead weight, landed on top of him and I offered my icy hand. He looked at it and shivered.

“Get away from me,” he threatened, brandishing a razor sharp blade that was wide at the base and narrow at the tip. But blades no longer frightened me.

My eyes closed, nose twitching with the scent of the night air. Pheromones rolled off his body: fear, lust, and one I preferred not to think of, death, all mixed together with the heady floral fragrance of the young woman. It made me greedy to take what he was offering.

Along with three other friends they plan to take a shortcut through the small town of Silver Creek; the last thing any of them expected was to become lost and end up pulling in to a motel for the night.

The Creek Motel is isolated and the last place Nicole wants to be, especially after meeting the glacial owner, but her discomfort is soon forgot as she finally gives in to her feelings and asks Kacey and Tyler to spend the night with her.

A decision she quickly regrets when she discovers that their friend has mysteriously disappeared from her locked room in the middle of the night. Worried, Nicole presumes the worst, but quickly discovers that Jayne's disappearance is more disturbing than any of them could have guessed.

~Excerpt~
He stared down at me. Uncertainty flickered across his features. "You're drunk?"

"My head's a little fuzzy, but I'm sober enough to know what I'm talking about."

"Nikki, I don't want you doing something you're going to regret just because you're upset over James."

"This has nothing to do with him." I leant up and kissed him. It was gentle, hardly exciting, but at least my stomach didn't turn.

He didn't kiss me back.

I pulled away and looked him dead in the eyes. "You've waited seven years. If it doesn't feel right kissing me, then you know keeping quiet was the right thing, and I know that we just had a crazy moment earlier. One kiss and we can stop being curious and just move on."

A small smile appeared as he arched an eyebrow at me. "You've been curious?"

Warmth blossomed in my cheeks. "Maybe."

Kacey chuckled. "I so fucking knew it."

I scowled at him. "Look, we’re adults, all right? I don't want us all falling out over this."

"What if it does feel right?"

"Well, there's only one way to find out."

I took a deep breath as Tyler cupped my face. My eyes fluttered shut as his mouth caught mine without hesitation. His tongue slipped against the seam of my lips and a small pop of heat hit the walls of my stomach. I pressed my hands to his chest, my nails sliding against the material of his T-shirt as I opened up to him.

His tongue slid slowly against my own and the agonizing pace and tease of his gentleness caused my heart to skip. I slid my hands up to his shoulder and neck. I ran my fingers through his black hair as my body melted against him.

He trailed his fingers down my throat and each tip sent a different pulse of electricity straight to my stomach. His hands fell to my hips and as the pressure of his fingers began to increase with the pace of his demanding lips, my slowly sobering mind began to twist with familiar and forbidden fantasies.
And I wanted to give in to them all.

Why the hell had I ever thought that this would be weird?

We shared everything with one another, so why couldn't we share ourselves? I would never dream of hurting him and I knew Tyler would never hurt me. I trusted him more than I trusted myself and the idea of being locked in his arms while he rocked languidly into me had my entire body thrumming with need.

"Right, I can't watch this shit." Kacey grunted as he got up. "It's one thing getting a hard-on over you, baby girl. The fact that Tyler happens to be in the picture…I'm freaking slightly."

I pulled away from Tyler, my breath somewhat shallow as I angled my head so I could glance at Kacey. "I don't want you to go."

Tyler didn't shift his focus from me and I watched as realization slowly slipped across his features. "You weren't just referring to me, were you?"

I shook my head and the smallest dose of guilt began to stab at me. "I think I could kinda love you both in my own way. I have—sometimes I have—God why is this so hard?" I took a deep breath. "There have been times when I've wondered what—across the years I’ve sometimes wondered—sometimes I have considered risking our friendship." I looked over at Kacey. "Do you understand what I am saying to you?"

"You're usually naked when I imagine you saying you want me, but yeah."

My jaw tensed. "I hate you sometimes. I hate the way you treat women and that you can't keep your dick in your pants or your damn mouth shut—"

"But you still want me, right?" He moved closer to me. "When are you going to get it in your head that you're not just some girl, Nikki? You're our girl."

"I want you both." I said quietly, not caring that my cheeks had grown warmer. "I have for a while."

"If we try this—" Tyler took a deep breath. "And it doesn't feel right—"

"We'll stop." Kacey promised as he slid his hand beneath my halter neck and began caressing my skin. "You say it baby, and we'll stop and forget all about it."

My stomach flipped at the feel of his fingers circling my navel. "And if I don't want to stop?"
An unreadable look crossed Tyler’s face and my heart skipped as Kacey moved behind me. The warmth of his body seeped into my back, while his fingers painted trails of heat across my abdomen and along my ribs.

"Then what happens in Silver Creek, stays in Silver Creek. Unless you decide otherwise." Kacey pressed his lips to my ear. A shiver ran down my neck and spine. "Does that sound fair?"

I closed my eyes and tilted my head to the side as his lips brushed against my jawbone and down the side of my throat. A groan escaped me as his hand closed over my bare breast and he squeezed eagerly. Tyler's hands fell from my hips and I felt Kacey's right hand splaying on my stomach as he pulled me closer and ground his growing erection in to my lower back.

"Yes or no, Nikki?" he asked raggedly. "Tyler ain't the only one whose been fantasizing about this baby, and I hate to remind you, but I'm not exactly patient."

I opened my eyes and looked at Tyler, watching as he pulled his T-shirt off and revealed the lean muscles of his abdomen and arms. I reached up and cupped his jaw, idly running my thumb along his bottom lip while I lifted my left arm and wound it around the back of Kacey's head. I slid my fingers in to his mass of curls and pulled playfully. "Yes."
